Just about every brochure you see advertising the Gold Coast will have a glossy aerial picture depicting the coastline with blue seas, white breakers and pristine beaches, overlooked by majestic high rise buildings. Why? Because from up here, the view is simply breathtaking. The tourist brochures don't need to sell the Coast, because from this angle, it simply sells itself.

The Gold Coast is a 70km stretch of amazing and diverse scenery. At the Northern border, the views vary from the chains of small, unspoiled islands stretching all the way to the Queensland capital, Brisbane, to the variety of tourist resorts including Sanctuary Cove, Couran Cove and South Stradbroke Island Resort. The Eastern border is the Pacific Ocean, often the home to whales and dolphins. Its unbroken line of surf beaches are a sight to behold from the air. The Western border of the region is flanked by the Great Dividing Range. The green behind the gold. This verdant backdrop of mountains boasts some of the finest rainforest in the country. Finally the South, where the snakelike Tweed River acts as the border between NSW and Queensland.

Skyscrapers, their name well earned, mark the commercial and tourist hub of South East Queensland. Interlacing all these areas, like watery tentacles, are the hundreds of man made canals. So many, in fact, their length is longer than the fabled waterways of Venice. Combined, all these facets make the Gold Coast one of Australia's premiere scenic locations.
